The death toll from the earthquake that struck northeastern Afghanistan has risen to 80, according to Chinese Xinhua news agency.
The agency, quoting local authorities, reported previously that four people were killed and 70 injured.
"According to the latest reports, four people were killed and 80 others were injured," Sharafat Zaman, a spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, said.
Earlier, he European-Mediterranean Seismological Center mentioned that an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 had occurred in northeastern Afghanistan.
India, Pakistan, and Central Asian countries also felt the tremors.
