Syria is set to relaunch international flight operations at its major airports as part of an ambitious effort to rebuild its aviation infrastructure.
The Director of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, Ashhad Al-Suleibi, confirmed to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that comprehensive rehabilitation work is underway at Aleppo International Airport and Damascus International Airport in collaboration with local and international partners.
According to Al-Suleibi, Damascus International Airport will officially reopen to international flights starting January 7, 2025.
The initiative aims to assure global and regional airlines of the airports’ operational readiness, modernized infrastructure, and enhanced safety measures.
Efforts are focused on fostering confidence among airline operators and demonstrating that Syria's airports are fully equipped to support seamless and secure aviation operations.
