The British newspaper "Daily Mail" revealed that Egypt is among the top 10 foreign travel destinations that Britons search for on the Google search engine, where it ranked eighth.
The newspaper said that the technology giant analyzed the destinations for which search interest increased more in 2023 versus 2022, in addition to keywords such as “flights to” and “travel to” in the United Kingdom.
Seven destinations in Europe, two in Africa and one in Asia appeared on the list of the top ten countries to travel to for UK citizens.
Greece occupied first place, followed by Italy, then Portugal, then Croatia in fifth place, while Cyprus ranked sixth, ahead of Thailand, which came in seventh place, then Egypt in eighth place, followed by Malta, and finally Morocco in tenth place.
Google said interest in searching for holidays in the UK was higher in 2023 than in any year since 2019 - the year before the pandemic.Google said that the year 2023 witnessed an increase in interest in searching for various travel topics, including flights, accommodation, and train tickets.
Google's results come after the city of Hurghada won third place in Tripadvisor's "Best Natural Destinations" category, moving up a position from last year, where it occupied fourth place in the 2023 list. The coastal city itself also won in the most popular destinations category in general and ranked 19th. . The city of Port Ghalib also won in the “Best Natural Destinations” category and ranked 20th.
The destinations were selected based on the quality and quantity of reviews from travelers about accommodation, restaurants and things to do in destinations around the world over a 12-month period between October 2022 and September 2023.
