For the first time since the start of the pandemic of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the new infections with the deadly virus that was registered in Italy within 24 hours exceeded the 40,000 mark.

Today, Friday, the Italian Ministry of Health confirmed that 40,902 cases of the coronavirus, had been detected yesterday, compared to 37,978 the previous day.

The ministry also recorded 550 deaths from "COVID-19" during the last day, compared to 636 deaths the previous day.

The total number of confirmed cases of Corona that have been recorded in Italy since the beginning of the pandemic has become one million and 107,303, of which 44,139 deaths, 399,238 cases of recovery, and 663,926 active cases.

Italy was one of the countries most affected by the first wave of Corona in the world, and the pandemic resumed its spread at unprecedented rates in the country at the beginning of the summer, prompting the government to re-tighten the strict restrictions aimed at limiting the pandemic.

However, Italy's  Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, stressed the importance of the presence of students in schools, despite the outbreak of the Corona pandemic in the country.

During his participation in a hypothetical event, Conte said, "We must be frank about schools, as the data say they are not hotbeds for the spread of infection."

He noted that the Italian government is trying to analyze the data, and it has a practical approach.

The Italian Premier stressed that is value to direct education with the presence of students in schools, so personal contact." Direct contact between teachers and students is essential."

He explained that for this reason, the government has allowed the opening of primary schools and first grade in middle schools in regions classified as red," meaning the most dangerous, in which more strict restrictions are imposed on citizens.

The northern Lombardy region, centered in Italy's financial capital, remained the hardest hit on Wednesday, reporting 8,180 new cases, down sharply from 10,955 on Tuesday.
