The Czech Republic's richest man Petr Kellner died in a helicopter crash in Alaska, along with other four people, Kellner’s financial group PPF announced on Monday.

The crash took place near Knik glacier, about 50 miles east of Anchorage in Alaska.

Officials stated that the helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances about 50 miles east of Anchorage at 6.35 pm on Saturday.

Alaska State Troopers mentioned that a sixth person on board was in a serious but stable condition at an Anchorage hospital.

Moreover, they said in a statement that they received a report of an overdue helicopter and the location of possible crash debris.

The five passengers included three guests and two guides from Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, according to company spokesperson Mary Ann Pruitt’s statement.

Notably, the Czech Republic's richest man made his first fortune in the 1990s by launching an investment fund that he used to buy a controlling stake in the country's largest insurance company.
