Nikos Christodoulides, the President of Cyprus, warmly received the credentials of Mohamed Swawky Zaazou, the newly appointed Ambassador of Egypt, highlighting the deep-rooted and strategic partnership between the two nations.

During the official presentation, President Christodoulides reaffirmed Cyprus’s unwavering support for Egypt on bilateral, regional, and EU platforms.

He emphasized the historic ties shared by the two countries, which date back millennia, and the significant progress achieved in various sectors over the past six decades, including energy, security, and economic development.

The President noted that Egypt and Cyprus, alongside Greece, have established a pivotal trilateral partnership since 2014, which has become a cornerstone for regional stability. The upcoming 10th Trilateral Summit in Egypt will further enhance collaborative efforts to address pressing challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean.

At the EU level, President Christodoulides acknowledged Egypt’s critical role in advancing regional stability, migration management, and counter-terrorism efforts.

He reiterated Cyprus’s commitment to championing Egypt's strategic partnership with the EU, ensuring deeper and more constructive engagement at all levels.

Expressing gratitude for Egypt’s longstanding support on the Cyprus issue, Christodoulides condemned Turkey’s “two-state” solution stance.

He affirmed Cyprus’s dedication to a comprehensive and viable solution based on UN Security Council resolutions and EU principles, calling for the end of the Turkish occupation and the reunification of Cyprus.

Welcoming Ambassador Zaazou, the President expressed Cyprus’s desire to elevate its ties with Egypt to greater heights, reinforcing the shared commitment to peace, prosperity, and regional cooperation.
