Culture Minister Attends 19th Sawiris Cultural Awards Ceremony

The Minister of Culture Dr. Neven El Kilany attended the Sawiris Cultural Awards Ceremony to honor the winners of the competition's 19th edition.

El Kilany was appointed by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly to witness the ceremony at the American University in Cairo.

During her speech, El Kilany praised President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's supportive efforts for arts and culture, asserting the Culture Ministry's keenness in using those events to shed light on the role of the non-profitable and non-governmental institutions in the scene of culture. She highlighted that their role is deep-standing and iconic in Egypt throughout history.

The Minister added that arts and culture play a significant role in forming the mentality of the human, and it helps in sending a positive image about Egypt. That's why the ministry is keen to be a vital part of it, stressing the importance of all society's institutions' roles.

She also praised the vision of the Sawiris Foundation for developing the Egyptians.

Finally, she thanked the foundation and congratulated the winners.

The list of the winners is as follows:

Fathy Embabi's "Raqs El Ebal" won the award for the Veterans' Novel, while "Thawret El Vanilla" for the Veterans' Short Story.

For the young novelists' competition, Ahmed Nagy's "Al Nehayat Al Saaeda" won, in addition, it captured the award for translation and publishing in English, while the second place went to Caroline Kamel's "Victoria."

The best short story for the young writers' award went to Karim Mohsen's "Hazeh Laysat Ghorfatak," while Ahmed Fouad El Din's "Mesahet Lel Monawarah" captured the second place.

The Best Script for the Veterans went to "Mawt Fawdawy" by Khaled Ezzat, and for the young writers, "Afrah Wa Ahzan Beit El Banat" by Ahmed Abdel Wareth won the award.

Regarding the Theatrical Works award, the second place went to Khaled Hassona's "Rakset Kaboul El Akhera."

Ahmed Ezz El Arab's "Hekayat Taaer Al Tabashir," and Samya Mahrez's "Ibrahim Nagy - Zeyara Hamimeya Taakhart Katheran" shared the Literary Criticism and Literary Narratives award.

For Children Literature awards, Omar El Tarouti, and Ahmed Abdel El Mohsen's "Begawar El Taba Wa Robama La" won the prize for participants U-12 years old, while the second place went to "Nabil We Aalamoh Al Gamil" by Alaa Arafah and Azza El Sayed.
