Culture Min. to Issue Encyclopedias for Writers, Creators

The Ministry of Culture has agreed to issue encyclopedia for Egyptian writers and creators in order to preserve their works.

In the same context, Dr. Inas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture and Dr. Said El Masry, Secretary-General of The Supreme Council of Culture, honored 16 female figures in literature, science, media, and social sciences.

She also praised the role of the Supreme Council of Culture in formulating the policies that serve creativity and promote cultural work to achieve modern developments in the modern era and to serve the Egyptian citizen.

During the meeting, many suggestions and projects, aiming at stimulating writers and innovators, were discussed. It included organizing seminars, literary evenings, readings works of some Egyptian and Arab writers, as part of the coming conference of literary novel. The meeting also examined the possibility of converting some of the great novels to theatrical performances in cooperation with the cultural production sector.

The committee members have a set of ideas, including publishing literary encyclopedias to document the narratives production. The committee plans to create of an electronic database issued by the Council about all figures and pioneers of thought, literature, art and social sciences to be a guide for the public and researchers.

On her part, the Minister of Culture directed concerned officials to generalize this idea to all the committees of the Council, in addition to renewing a prize for the realization of heritage.

Moreover, the meeting tackled many other issues related to the development of publishing policies. Abdel Dayem called for communication with the writers in the provinces through benefiting from its theaters distributed in all the provinces of Egypt.

She also called upon Culture Ministry officials to set up a new strategic vision for the future serve the cultural and literary expansion in various governorates. She pointed out to the need to put standards for the selection of works nominated for publication to be valuable for different generations of creators.

The minister stressed that Egypt and the Ministry of Culture will continue to support young creators by publishing their work and empowering them culturally .
