The details of the program are scheduled to be announced on 3rd February in the headquarters of Cairo International Book Fair - in Egypt Center for International Exhibitions in the Fifth Assembly.

Abdel Dayem emphasized that the agenda of the activities of choosing Cairo as the capital of Islamic culture is one of the tools of our soft power to communicate with Islamic nations.

The communication includes use of civilization elements, values and ideas to present a true image about Islamic world that contains a rich heritage of concepts of tolerance and coexistence.

It is noteworthy that the ISESCO- Islamic Education, Science And Culture Organization - adopted the program of “ Cairo -The Capital of Islamic Culture” that matches with the program launched by “the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science –ALESCO”.

The organization decided to assign it annually to three ancient Islamic cities representing different Islamic regions in the African and Asian and Arabic world, in addition to the capital that hosts the Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers, which is being held every two years.

It is worthy of note that these Celebrations will last throughout the whole year.

These ceremony began in 2001 in parallel with the third Islamic Conference of the Ministers of Culture and the Fourth Islamic Conference of Ministers of Culture in Algeria in 2004 and in Mecca in 2005.

It then moved to Aleppo (Syria), Fez (Morocco), Alexandria (Egypt), Kairouan (Tunisia), Tarim (Yemen), Tlemcen (Algeria), Najaf (Iraq), Medina (Saudi Arabia), Sharjah (UAE), Nizwa (Sultanate of Oman), Kuwait (Kuwait), Oman (Jordan), Manama (Bahrain), Tunis (Tunisia).

Cairo is now going to take it turn this year.
