Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, witnessed on Sunday the opening ceremonies of the 13th edition of “Sama International Festival for chanting and spiritual music” headed by artist Intisar Abdel Fattah.
This edition comes exceptionally under the slogan "A Message of Peace to the World", sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and held in cooperation with the Ministries Tourism and “ Dialogue Foundation for Arts and Cultures “ in addition to a number of national institutions at Bir Youssef Theater in Salah El-Din Castle- Al Kalaa.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Hisham Azmy, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Culture, Dr. Fathi Abdel-Wahab, Head of the Cultural Development Fund, Dr. Nevin Mohamed, Head of The archive and National Documents Organization, Dr. Suad Shawky, Head of the External Cultural Relations Sector.
Abdel Dayem said that music elevates the soul and pushes it to supremacy; spiritual music promotes conscience using the whims of life.
The International Festival of Spiritual Music brings together musicians from around the world to meet under the sky of Cairo, which combines mosques and churches together as a model of tolerance and peace, as the unity of spirit and body, representing the harmony of music.
She added that the state pays great attention to the activities that reflect the civilization and progress of society.
Furthermore, she thanked the artist Intisar Abdel Fattah, the Head of the festival for his insistence on organizing the festival and delivering its message despite all the challenges of Corona pandemic.
She also wished that this session would achieve success on Egypt -the land of love and peace, praising the role of the Egyptian state and its insistence on holding all the international activities despite the current circumstances, at the time when the world suspended the international events around the world.
The minister also congratulated both the artist Samira Abdel Aziz and the artist Yahya Al-Fakharani for being chosen as representatives of the Egyptian Senate, wishing them success
.
It is noteworthy that the country of "Lebanon" was chosen as the guest of honor for this edition of the festival, and Umm Kulthum as the character of the festival.
The activities continue from 22-29 October, with the participation of 20 groups some of them belong to the Egyptian church and the others are members of some foreign embassies in Egypt.
The festival honored a group of personalities and artistic figures that have influenced this field with their constructive creations, namely: the Prince of Poets Ahmed Shawky, the great artist Fairouz, and the name of the late Sheikh Muhammad Al-Fayoumi, Sheikh of the vocalists.
The activities are held in the Citadel, Al-Ghoury Dome, the Coptic Museum, "The Complex of Religions,"- in which the activities of “ Religions Forum "will be organized “ under the slogan “ Here We Pray Together" on 25 October, coinciding with the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday.
In addition, on the margin of the festival activities, a popular market will be organized to display traditional and folk crafts in the castle, with the participation of the Cultural Development Fund, the Traditional Crafts Center and independent civil associations.
