Tensions have escalated between the United States and Cuba following a sharp response from the Cuban leadership to remarks made by the American President, coinciding with a severe energy crisis gripping the nation.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel pledged that his country would confront any external aggression with "impregnable resistance," criticizing statements by Donald Trump in which he hinted at the possibility of seizing control over Cuba.
Trump had intensified his rhetoric toward the island, stating that he could do as he pleased with it as part of increasing pressure on the communist-run nation.
In a related context, Cuban authorities announced the restoration of the power grid after an outage lasting more than 29 hours following the successful operation of the country’s largest fuel-fired power plant.
