Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez has accused restrictive US policies of causing child fatalities in Cuba, pointing out that "the oil embargo and the tightening of the US blockade constitute a cruel and indiscriminate collective punishment that leads to deaths in the country, especially among infants."
Rodríguez’s remarks came on the "X" platform, where he revealed that the embargo has caused the infant mortality rate to double, reaching 9.9 cases per 1,000 live births.
Furthermore, the life expectancy for children with cancer has dropped from 85% to 65%, according to the Diario newspaper.
