U.S. President Donald Trump has reportedly intensified pressure on NATO allies, seeking a firm commitment to assist in securing the Strait of Hormuz. According to European diplomatic sources cited by CNN, the White House is pushing for a formal agreement within days to bolster maritime security in the volatile region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global chokepoint for oil shipments. The U.S. administration’s move follows a series of escalating incidents involving Iran and its regional proxies. Recent statements from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs have condemned what they described as "sinful attacks" by Iran and its affiliated militias, highlighting the growing instability in the Middle East.

This diplomatic push comes at a complex time for Transatlantic relations. Reports suggest the White House is simultaneously considering the withdrawal of some U.S. troops from Europe, a move that could serve as leverage in negotiations over NATO's role in Middle Eastern security.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi responded to the heightening pressure by stating that Iran’s "hands remain on the trigger," asserting that Tehran will not abandon its regional allies. Meanwhile, the Iranian Supreme Leader has sent messages to Gulf nations, signaling that the management of the Strait of Hormuz is entering a "new phase."

As the deadline for a NATO commitment nears, international observers are watching closely to see if European allies will fall in line with Washington’s maritime security initiative or if this will create a further rift within the alliance.
