When Egypt celebrated the Christmas with a blaze of firework parties on Jan 7, few ordinary citizens could have imagined what 2020 had in store.

For the last 12 months, the novel coronavirus has paralyzed the Egyptian economies, devastated tourism, aviation sectors and confined nearly ninety four million people to their homes. It has been a year that changed Egypt and the entire world like no other for at least a generation, possibly since World War I depression.

It’s worth noting that coronavirus or its scientific term Covid-19 is far from the deadliest pandemic in the  history of humanity.

According to domestic reports, more than 7.4 thousand  people died. Around 133 thousand  people are known to have contracted the virus, though the actual number is likely much bigger. Obviously, many young and elders people died and partners bereaved as loved ones died alone in hospitals, bedside visits were considered too dangerous to risk.

"Indeed, this is a pandemic experience that's unique in the lifetime of every single person on Earth," said Dr. Hany El-Nazer, dermatology Consultant and former President of the National Research institute "Hardly any of us haven't been touched by it."

Moreover, Coronavirus is a problem that poses a threat to the existence of all human beings. It threatens the political, social, educational and economical stability of any country.

Despite being a developing country, Egypt has played an essential role in shaping the society’s awareness regarding the threat of covid-19 and its inflectional consequences. Only if many inpiduals change their behavior collectively, the power of change could be seen and felt.

To achieve significant steps in combating covid-19, the instructions and as well as recommendations  of the world health  organization must be carried.
