Over the past 24 hours, the United States recorded its highest daily toll ever, with the death of more than three thousand patients with Covid-19 disease caused by the novel coronavirus, a number that exceeds the death toll of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Johns Hopkins University figures revealed that 3,250 people have died, during Wednesday, in addition to more than 220 thousand new infections got reported.

The health authorities have earlier expected this increase, especially after the movements made by millions of Americans two weeks ago, to celebrate Thanksgiving, despite the calls that were directed to them to stay at their homes.

The state of California alone counted more than thirty thousand new cases of Coronavirus in the last day, which is a record for the state in one day, according to what was reported by "Covid Tracking Project."

The number of people being hospitalized due to COVID-19 in the United States continues to rise.

The virus has so far infected more than 15 million Americans, while it has killed about 290,000 since its outbreak in the first quarter of this year.

Data from the US Department of Health showed that intensive care units in hundreds of hospitals in cities and rural communities across the country have reached or are close to its maximum capacity.

Mean while, the Americans are pinning their hopes on the imminent distribution of the vaccine in the country, after the final review of the regulatory authorities due in hours.

On its part, the White House Coronavirus Action Committee warned that Corona vaccines will not reduce the spread of the Corona virus until late spring, calling on states to take other preventive measures.

The committee stated in its weekly report that the effectiveness of the vaccine in limiting the spread of the virus would not occur before the vaccination of 100 million Americans with other diseases, which will take until late next spring.

It stressed that "behavioral change and strict lockdown policies are the only preventive tools possible to implement during the winter season.
