Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population sent 10 tons of protective supplies as a gift to the Chinese people to confront the outbreak of the coronavirus, according to an official statement.

"Egypt sent a plan to bring back all Egyptian citizens from the Chinese city of Wuhan," the statement read.

Those supplies are meant to support the Chinese people, within the framework of deep and interrelated relations and enhance cooperation between the two countries to confront the outbreak of coronavirus, according to the ministry.

"The supplies include medical preventive items that any citizen needs to follow protective measures such as masks and alcohol disinfectants", said the ministry's Spokesperson Dr. Khaled Megahed.

"Health Minister Dr. Hala Zayed directed that this shipment to be sent from Egypt to support the Chinese people to help citizens," he added.

The Chinese have been following preventive measures to deal with the new Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that has swept the country.

In the same context, Megahed confirmed the availability of a sufficient strategic stock of medical and preventive supplies needed for the Egyptian medical plan adopted to deal with the Coronavirus and prevent its entry into the country.

The novel coronavirus, known as (2019-nCoV), was first reported from Wuhan, China, on 31 December 2019.

Coronaviruses comes from the Latin word corona, meaning crown. Most infect animals, such as bats, cats, and birds. Only seven, including 2019-nCoV, SARS, and MERS, are known to infect human, according to the Vox website.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, most patients right now start with a fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Hand-washing is an important public health measure all the time, and especially in an outbreak.

People with the virus have been detected in other countries, which is the reason the WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency. The novel coronavirus is a zoonotic disease coming from an animal.
