Iraq announced today, Sunday, that it agreed to grant emergency approval to use the Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccine.
According to the Iraqi News Agency, Ministry of Health spokesman Saif Al-Badr said that Iraq’s National Medicine Selection authority gave an emergency approval for the use of the Pfizer vaccine in Iraq to counter the Corona pandemic in the country.
“Iraq has formally contracted with Pfizer corporation, and the first batch of the vaccine will arrive at the beginning of the new year," Al-Badr added, noting :"the first batch will reach one and a half million doses."
"The Ministry of Health is in contact with the World Health Organization about the latest developments regarding Coronavirus.”
The Iraqi health spokesman confirmed that there are no infections with the new strain of Coronavirus in Iraq so far.
