Today marks the 113th establishment anniversary of the iconic Coptic Museum in the Old Cairo district.
The museum features about 16,000 rare Coptic artifacts spread in its two wings and over 26 halls.
The museum was opened in 1910 by Morcos Samika Pasha, who is considered one of the prominent Christian figures in Egypt. Samika was interested in preserving the Coptic heritage.
It traces the history of Egypt from its beginnings to the present day. It was erected on 8,000 square meter land offered by the Coptic Orthodox Church, under the guardianship of Pope Cyril V.
