Flights at Copenhagen Airport, the busiest hub in Scandinavia, were suspended or diverted on Monday evening after police reported spotting two to three large drones near the site.
According to a statement posted by Danish police on X, unidentified drones forced airport authorities to halt departures and redirect flights to nearby airports.
Local media showed a heavy security presence around the airport. Authorities have yet to confirm when normal operations will resume.
In a separate incident the same night, Oslo Airport also reported a drone-related disruption, forcing all traffic to operate from a single runway, Norway’s NRK broadcaster said. Normal operations have since resumed, but the source of the drone activity remains unknown.
The incidents come amid heightened security concerns across Northern Europe, following increased Russian sabotage activities and repeated drone and fighter jet incursions into NATO airspace in recent weeks.
