The Conservative Party leadership in Britain confirmed that the name of the new British Prime Minister, who will succeed the resigned Boris Johnson, will be announced on the fifth of September.

"We must ensure that there is plenty of time before the result is announced on September 5," Graham Brady, chair of the Parliamentary 1922 Committee, told reporters. His comments came when details of the timetable for electing the party's leadership were revealed, according to Agence France-Presse.

On the other hand, three senior lawmakers in the Conservative Party announced, last Saturday, that they will run to succeed British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, bringing to eight the number of contenders announced in the race so far.

These three are former Health and Finance Minister Sajid Javid, current Finance Minister Nazim al-Zahawi, and former Health Minister Jeremy Hunt, who competed with Johnson in 2019 for the leadership of the Conservative Party, according to Agence France-Presse (AFP).
