The Oversight Committee in the US House of Representatives called for an investigation into the role of social media in the storming of the Congress on January 6.

Earlier, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the  House said that there were psychological shocks caused by the storming of Congress.

She added, during a press conference: We will discuss in Congress the trial of former President Donald Trump, explaining that Trump incited violence and the storming of Congress.

She pointed out that it is clear that Trump incited the mob to attack the Congress building.

Pelosi pledged to bring those who stormed the Capitol to justice.

"There will be trials for those responsible for storming the Congress", she said.

She added: "We will go after the people who helped break into Congress but we must collect the evidence."

"We are confident that the Senate can fulfill its constitutional duty while continuing to manage the business of the American people," she said in a White House briefing.

On the other hand, the leader of the Republican majority in the Senate, Senator Mitch McConnell, said that the outgoing US President Trump incited the crowds in the storming of the Capitol.

He condemned Trump because the crowds that stormed the Capitol were taken by the lies of the former president.

Earlier, new US President Joe Biden's candidate for the position of Director of US Intelligence said that confronting the threat of Chinese espionage and foreign influence operations, in general, would be her top priority.

According to Russia Today, Biden's candidate for the position of Director of US Intelligence added that if she is appointed Director of National Intelligence, she will tell the truth to the authority and will work to restore confidence within the intelligence community and among Americans in general.

Jen Psaki said Biden will leave the mechanisms for trying former President Donald Trump to the Senate.
