Congratulations to Egypt.. and congratulations to our national team for qualifying to the World Cup Round of 32.
We experienced great joy today at dawn. A joy beyond a match result or qualifying for a new round. The joy of a country that lived with the national team minute by minute, and the joy of millions of Egyptians who waited for this moment inside and outside Egypt. For more than a hundred years, football has been a part of Egyptians' lives, from the first participation in the World Cup in 1934, through the African championships, and until today. Every time the national team succeeds, people feel they have a new reason to rejoice.
What caught my attention this time was not what happened inside the stadium, but what happened outside it. In the United States, the stands and streets were filled with Egyptians. Egyptian flags spread everywhere; families came with their children wearing the national team jersey, and youth did not stop cheering throughout the match. For moments, I felt that all of Egypt—Cairo, Alexandria, Aswan, and all the cities of Egypt—had moved there. It was a scene that said Egypt is in the heart and never fades away, even if you are thousands of kilometers away from it.
This qualification did not come from a vacuum; it came after hard work, fatigue, and great effort from the players and the technical staff led by Captain Hossam Hassan, a team that fights for every ball and plays with spirit and determination until the last minute. Also, the President's support for the team was an important message that gave the players a moral boost and confirmed that the team's success is a success that brings joy to all Egyptians.
I believe that the most beautiful thing about these matches we played leading up to qualification is that no one looked for a single hero. Everyone knows that the victory was made by an entire team: players, coaches, medical and administrative staff, and fans that never stopped supporting, whether in the stands or in front of television screens.. and a President who supports, backs, rejoices in victory, congratulates the players and technical staff, raises morale, and makes them happy just as they made the Egyptians happy.
I hope this qualification will be the beginning of a new phase in Egyptian football, based on continued work, confidence in the Egyptian coach, and planning for the future. Real success does not come from a single match, but it starts with a step that gives people confidence… and I think the Egyptian national team has given us all this confidence and restored to our hearts a feeling we had missed for years.
Congratulations to Egypt and Egyptians, and congratulations to our national team.
