Prices of basic commodities in Gaza have fallen in the past few hours as humanitarian aid has intensified into the Strip over the past ten days, which have seen the entry of hundreds of tons of aid for displaced people.

The Gaza Commodity Exchange today recorded a drop in the price of a kilogram of sugar from 400 shekels to 50 shekels, and the price of flour fell to 15 shekels, compared to 150 shekels previously. A bag of onions is now selling for 100 shekels, compared to 1,000 shekels previously. This has been welcomed by Gaza residents after suffering from skyrocketing commodity prices over the past months.

Over the past few months, traders have taken advantage of the scarcity of humanitarian aid in the Strip and dramatically raised the prices of basic commodities, leading to intense anger among the residents of the Strip.
