Commerce Minister, Google Delegation Discuss Training Programs, Digital Transformation

Ahmed Samir, Minister of Trade and Industry met with Google CEO for the Middle East and North Africa Martin Roxy to enhance cooperation to boost sustainable development in the industrial sector.

The minister said that the meeting dealt with the possibility of cooperation between the two sides in the field of providing training programs and digital transformation in a way that contributes to the implementation of the ministry’s goals for the development of the Egyptian industry through the “Skills” program that the company provides free of charge, as well as developing the capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises through an academic program. 

Google Partners, launched by the company in Egypt in 2014, aims to build an integrated system to help small and medium businesses, a program designed to support web professionals and agencies that help companies succeed online.

He added that the meeting also dealt with the possibility of benefiting from the company's programs in linking industrial areas and clusters in various Egyptian governorates through Google Maps programs to identify all developments in these areas and improve their efficiency to provide better services to investors, as well as the possibility of joint cooperation to promote a number of Egyptian export sectors, including the chemical sectors, engineering and electronic as well as identifying information on foreign markets.

On his part, Roxy confirmed that the Egyptian market represents one of the company's important markets in the Middle East and North Africa, where the company's total investments since the start of its activities in Egypt amount to about $700 million, and the company aims to expand the volume of its investments during the next stage especially in light of the fruitful cooperation with a large number of Egyptian government agencies.

He pointed out that the company provides many programs for the development of small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurship, and aims to help these companies increase their digital capabilities.
