The UN Secretary-General António Guterres held a commemorative event in honor of Egyptian martyrs and all peacekeepers who have lost their lives in 2022.
The top UN official said: "United Nations peacekeepers are the beating heart of our commitment to a more peaceful world."
In turn, Osama Abdel Khalek, Permanent Representative of Egypt to the UN in New York, said: "The UN remembers the fallen Egyptian heroes in UNPeacekeeping missions worldwide, along with women and men from all countries who martyred while making the ultimate sacrifice for international peace and prosperity."
"To them, Egypt and the whole world shall remain forever indebted," he added.
