Colombia's First Lady Tests Positive for Coronavirus

Maria Juliana Ruiz, Colombian first lady tested positive for coronavirus but is asymptomatic, according to the government`s announcement on Tuesday.

Colombian President Ivan Duque and his wife have regular coronavirus tests due to their high levels of exposure and busy schedules, according to a statement by the president’s office.

The statement added that Ruiz is following quarantine rules as established by the health ministry. The tests showed that Duque received a negative result.

The country`s Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez tested positive for coronavirus a month ago and was also asymptomatic.

The country has reported more than 1.2 million cases of coronavirus, as well as 35,479 deaths due to COVID-19, the disease it causes.
