Colombian President Gustavo Petro said Wednesday that he will meet with his US counterpart, Donald Trump, on February 3.
Trump and Petro spoke by phone last week. Trump said after the call that arrangements were being made for Petro to visit the White House, just days after threatening Colombia with military action.
"We will see the results of this meeting. It is very important," Petro said during a cabinet meeting, adding, "I don't want Colombians to suffer. I want them to be able to live in peace."
