On Friday, officials said that an explosion in a coal mine in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province killed at least six miners.
Shafqat Fayyaz, the Chief Inspector of Mines in Balochistan, said the rescue operation was completed early Friday after an explosion in a coal mine in Marwar, about 60 kilometres from Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, on Thursday.
Six bodies were discovered, while two miners were rescued alive, and the mine field was sealed, according to Fayyaz.
An inquiry into the incident has been requested, according to the official. Local media reported that the initial inquiry found that the blast was caused by a gas leak.
