CNN Travel Includes Egypt on List of Top Tourist Destinations for 2023

CNN Travel has listed Egypt among the best tourist destinations in 2023. 

In an article dubbed “Where to travel in 2023: The best destinations to visit", the outlet highlighted Egypt, especially the city of Cairo, as one of the top places to visit in the world.

The report referred to the Grand Egyptian Museum, considered the largest museum dedicated to a single civilization.

The museum features the full collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures in addition to other unique artifacts.

The report showcased the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square and the archaeological treasures it contains.

It also highlighted that although the pyramids of Giza represent the most important element to attract tourists, the city of Cairo is full of many tourist and archaeological elements and places that tourists can enjoy during their visit.

CNN Travel highlighted that the Giza pyramids represent “the city’s tour-de-force” and noted there is still more to see as the city of Cairo is full of many archaeological attractions, particularly Islamic Cairo.

The area has one of the largest collections of historic Islamic architecture in the world.

It also referred to the Al-Azhar Mosque, dating back to 970, as one of the important must-see Islamic monuments.

The report also showcased the city's rich Christian tradition, which includes Coptic Cairo, part of Old Cairo, and has a concentration of Christian sites that pre-date the arrival of Islam.

It highlighted Al-Azhar Park and its vast green spaces and a design inspired by historical Islamic gardens.

CNN Travel also touched on the upscale neighborhood of Zamalek, which is located on an island in the Nile River, with various restaurants, luxurious hotels, and bazaars.
