CNN Travel featured the beauty of Marsa Alam's marine life as it is considered as one of the best pe sites in the world.

In a short movie on CNN Destination Egypt, the international network mentioned, along Marsa Alam coast, there are some of the world's best coral reefs.

"Marsa Alam's coral reef is home to over 300 different species of fish. This is a treasure trove for snorkelers and pers," CNN said.

CNN attributed the good condition, which the reefs are in, to Hossam Helmy, the founder of Red Sea Diving Safari (RSDS).

Helmy, who owns three eco-resorts in Marsa Alam, leads conservation campaigns to protect Egypt's most spectacular coral reefs for 30 years.

For Helmy, he thinks that the best way to maintain marine life is to control the number of people who pe into the sea.

He preferred to build a smaller resort just to accommodate about 175 tourists. At his solar-powered resorts, plastic is restricted and recycled.

He also encourages travelers to join daily cleanup tours of the local beaches, a matter which serves sustainable tourism, which Egypt seeks to achieve.

"We have a treasure here, so we have to save it, otherwise we're going to lose it," he said.

Tourists, who spoke during the footage, expressed their great admiration for visiting the Red Sea resort, saying it is one of the most beautiful places they've ever visited.

Tourism Minister Dr. Rania Al-Mashat tweeted CNN's video, lauding Helmy's efforts in achieving eco-tourism in Marsa Alam.
