Munich Airport experienced temporary disruptions early Saturday after climate activists breached airport grounds and glued themselves to one of its runways.

According to an airport spokesperson, one runway has since reopened, but flight delays are expected.

The incident occurred during one of the airport's busiest travel periods. Activists from the group "Last Generation" posted several images on X (formerly Twitter) showing members on what appeared to be a runway or tarmac, holding protest signs.

The group reported that six people were involved in the protest, positioned in two separate locations within the airport.

Munich Airport, located in southern Germany, is one of the busiest airports in Europe, handling millions of passengers annually.

This disruption is part of a growing trend of climate activism aimed at drawing attention to the urgent need for action against climate change.

The "Last Generation" group has been known for its direct action protests, which often involve disruptive tactics to highlight their cause.

The airport has since resumed operations on one runway, but passengers are advised to check with their airlines for updated flight information due to potential delays caused by the protest.
