Violent clashes have resumed in the Syrian city of Aleppo between the Syrian army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), according to Al Qahera News.
The fighting erupted in several areas of the city, raising concerns over a renewed escalation in one of Syria’s most strategically significant urban centers.
Aleppo, once Syria’s largest city and commercial hub, has largely remained under government control since late 2016 following years of intense conflict. However, parts of the city’s northern and northeastern outskirts have periodically witnessed tensions between Syrian government forces and the SDF, which is backed by the United States and controls large swathes of territory in northeastern Syria.
The Syrian Democratic Forces, dominated by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), have been a key player in the fight against ISIS but have long had a complex and uneasy relationship with Damascus. While both sides have occasionally coordinated against common threats, disputes over territorial control, security arrangements, and governance have frequently led to confrontations.
