Clashes broke out between Syrian government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Aleppo, escalating tensions in several residential districts of the city.
Fighting was reported near the al-Zohour crossing, as Syrian authorities imposed a curfew in the Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods and declared the areas full military zones, banning access to sites linked to the SDF.
Syrian military sources said reinforcements were deployed to surrounding districts, with operations expected to focus on strategic routes, including the Castello Road and areas adjacent to Bani Zaid. The move comes as part of what the defense ministry described as a precise and concentrated military operation.
Residents were warned to stay indoors as civil defense teams and ambulances were stationed at neighborhood entrances. Shelling reportedly hit several areas, causing injuries among civilians and raising concerns over the safety of densely populated districts.
The developments highlight the fragile security situation in Aleppo, where renewed confrontations threaten to deepen humanitarian and military challenges in the city.
