Civil Aviation Intensifies Precautionary Measures, Disinfects Egyptian Airports

The Egyptian government is carrying out a comprehensive plan to prevent the risk of the novel "coronavirus"  and seeking to take all measures that guarantee the safety of citizens.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation and its affiliated companies are monitoring the application of best precautionary practices and preventive measures at various work sites in Egyptian airports in order to combat the emerging virus and limit its spread.

Pilot Mohamed Manar, Minister of Civil Aviation, issued a mandate to the Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation to raise the ceiling of precautionary measures and intensify sterilization and disinfection operations inside the travel and arrival halls and public facilities in Egyptian airports.

The minister stressed  the importance of providing all modern equipment that works around the clock inside all airports with the aim of providing an integrated health environment for Egyptian airport visitors.

High-qualified  teams   carry out disinfection and sterilization operations 24 hours a day in cooperation with preventive medicine teams of the Ministry of Health and Population.

Those teams  use  environmentally friendly materials in accordance with the highest global safety and health standards.

The sterilization operations include all gates, barriers, walls, check-in counters, loading bridges, waiting chairs, in addition to passport counters, security inspection devices, luggage belts, luggage carts and toilets.

The Minister of Aviation directed the local officials in all airports to maintain  social distancing and providing hand sanitizers and sterile fluids at fixed points, while adhering to wearing a mask and gloves inside the halls.

He also stated that all Egyptian airports are committed to applying all the international standards issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with regard to confronting the spread of the Coronavirus.

He affirmed that the Egyptian state's permanent support for the aviation sector to confront the effects of the deadly  virus and its repercussions on this vital sector, which is one of the important contributing sectors in the Egyptian economic growth.
