A few hours ago, the Cairo International Film Festival revealed the full list of its prizers winners. This edition witnessed the participation of 85 films in 4 different competitions.
The CIFF Official Film Sections Awards:
Starting with the prizes of the International Competition, The Golden Pyramid Award for Best Film and Henry Barakat Award for Best Artistic Contribution went for the British film "Limpo" directed by Ben Sharrock and starring the Egyptian Amir El Masry.
The Silver Pyramid Special Jury Award for Best Director went to "Conference" directed by the Russian Ivan I. Tverdovskiy.
The Bronze Pyramid Award for Best First or Second Work went to the Egyptian "Lift Like a Girl" by Mayye Zayyed.
Naguib Mahfouz Award for Best Screenplay went to "50 or Two Whales Meet on the Beach" by the Mexican Jorge Cuchi.
Best Actor Award went to the German Gerasim Georgiev for his role in "German Lessons."
Best Actress Award went to the Egyptian Elham Shahin for her role in "Curfew" and the Russian Natalya for Pavlenkova for her role in "The Conference."
In addition, a special mention was announced for the Palestinian "Gaza Mon Amour."
Moving to The Horizons Of New Arab Cinema Competition Awards, Saad Eldin Wahba Award for Best Arabic Film went to "Under The Concrete" by the Lebanese Roy Arida.
Salah Abu Seif Award for Best Artistic Contribution went to the Saudi "The Tambour of Retribution" by Abdulaziz Alshlahei.
Best Non-Fiction film Award went to the Lebanese "We Are from There" by Wissam Tanios.
Best Acting Performance Award went to Faisal Al Dokhi for his role in "The Tambour of Retribution" by Abdulaziz Alshlahei.
In addition, a special mention was announced for the Moroccan"The Fall of Apple Trees" by Mohamed Mouftakir.
The upcoming one is International Critics’ Week Competition Awards, Shadi Abdel Salam Award for Best Film went to the Chinese "The Best Is Yet to Come" by Jing Wang
Fathy Farag Award for Best Artistic Contribution went to the Dutch "Gold" by the Rogier Hesp.
Next is The Cinema Of Tomorrow International Competition Awards, Youssef Chahine Award for Best Short Film went to "Isabel" by Sara Shazli, the daughter of the iconic director and producer Marian Khoury.
The Special Jury Award went to the German "The Game" by Roman Hodel.
Finally, CIFF Cash Awards prizes winners were as the following:
Youssef Cherif Rizkallah Award (Audience Award) went for the Egyptian "Lift Like a Girl" by Mayye Zeyyad.
Best Arab Film Award went to "Gaza Mon Amour," and "We Are from There."
Regarding the FIPRESCI Award, the prize went to "Limbo." On the other hand, Isis Award for the Best Egyptian Film Represents Women Role went to "Lift Like a Girl" and the Isis Award for Best Film about Human Trafficking issues went to "Along the Sea" by Akio Fujimoto.
