Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) will organize today, Tuesday the premiere of several films including, Atom Egoyan’s film "Guest of Honor", "Noum El Deek", "Before It’s too late", "Monos", and “The Border".
Canadian director of Egyptian origin Atom Egoyan’s film "Guest of Honor" will be gala screened at Cairo Opera House, at 9:30 PM, amid the attendee of the film’s director.
The film revolves around Veronica, who wants to remain in prison for sexual assault, after learning that she has visitors; she and her father, Jim, dwell on the events of the past.
The Egyptian documentary "Noum El Deek", directed by Saif Abdullah, will be screened in its International premiere in the “Arab Cinema Horizons” competition, at the Cairo Opera House’s Small Theatre, at 9:30 PM.
It will be followed with the screening of the Tunisian-French film "Before It’s too late", directed by Majdi Lakhdar, which will be screened in its International premiere in the “Critics Week” competition, hosted at 7:00 PM in the same theater.
The film revolves around Ali, a Tunisian tailor who spends most of his time searching for a treasure buried beneath his ramshackle house. One day after it collapses, he finds himself stuck with his wife and two children, and is forced to learn to take care of them and find a way to save them.
It will be followed with the screening of Colombian-Argentine film "Monos", directed by Alejandro Landes, which runs in the “official selection out of competition” in its African premiere at 9:30 PM.
The film won the best film award from the festivals of Sundance, London, San Sebastian, and Transylvania before screening in CIFF.
Monos revolves around a group of young soldiers, who are part of a rebel group called the “Organization”, who are tasked with holding, Dr. Julian Nicholson, a hostage. She tries to escape when the military attacks their base.
Moreover, a world premiere gala screening will be hosted for the Colombian film “The Border", directed by David David, at 6:30 PM in Cairo Opera House's Grand Theater.
The plot revolves amid a political crisis, on the border between Colombia and Venezuela. It highlights the life of an Andean woman, lives with her husband, and brother on looting travelers. However, fate pushes her on the brink of living in illusion and drowning in mysterious, surreal dreams.
