A CIA tweet on the occasion of Valentine's Day sparked widespread controversy on social media.

The CIA's tweet left followers feeling intolerable on Valentine's Day, as it tweeted, "Roses are red ... violets are blue ... Happy Valentine's Day from the CIA!"

The tweet comes after an earlier encrypted message that the agency posted earlier this week asking people to decrypt it.

Sebastian Gorka, a former Donald Trump administration official wrote in response: "Unserious."

One of the tweeters commented, saying, "Creepy," while another person said: "I spent the entire past decade perfecting torture."

While others responded more positively by offering "some love" to the CIA with Valentine's Day poems, including Naval Warfare correspondent David Larter saying that he was expecting a better poem.
