Chinese President Congratulates Egypt over Joining BRICS

Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated on Thursday, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Argentina, Iran and Ethiopia for joining BRICS bloc. 

This came during Chinese President's participation in the special press conference of the 15th BRICS leaders' meeting in Johannesburg this morning.

Xi pointed out that the expansion of BRICS membership this time is a historic event, which reflects the determination of the BRICS countries to join hands and cooperate with developing countries. 

He also added that this step comes in line with the aspirations of the international community, as well as common interests of emerging market and developing countries.

"The expansion of membership this time is also a new starting point for BRICS cooperation, and it will add a new dynamism to the BRICS cooperation mechanism and further increase the strength of peace and development in the world," he said.

"As long as we join efforts as one team, BRICS cooperation will have broad horizons and a promising future. Let's make joint efforts to record new chapters of solidarity and cooperation between emerging market countries and developing countries for development!," the Chinese president stressed.
