Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that China supports Sudan in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence, unity, and territorial integrity, expressing hope that Sudan would soon restore peace and stability.

This statement was made during a meeting on Friday between President Xi and the Chairman of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is in Beijing to attend the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit, according to China's Xinhua News Agency.

Xi stated that China will continue to uphold justice for Sudan in multilateral forums and strive to create a conducive external environment for a political solution to the Sudanese issue.

Marking the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Xi expressed China’s willingness to work with Sudan to promote the steady development of their strategic partnership. He also expressed hope that both sides would actively implement the summit's outcomes to enhance bilateral cooperation.

For his part, al-Burhan acknowledged China’s contribution to Sudan’s economic development and the improvement of its people's living standards through numerous infrastructure projects.

He praised the 10 partnership initiatives proposed by President Xi at the FOCAC Summit, believing these plans would significantly help Sudan overcome the hardships of war and achieve peace and development. Al-Burhan also expressed Sudan's readiness to actively implement the summit's outcomes and further strengthen the strategic partnership with China.
