Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs for China's Guangdong Province, Tsang Feng, spotlighted the robust trade ties between his province and Egypt. Notably, the trade exchanges between these two entities represent a significant one-sixth of the entire trade volume between Egypt and China.

Addressing a gathering of Egyptian journalists in Guangdong, Feng accentuated the province's influential role in bolstering economic exchanges between the two nations. Illustrative of this is the annual Canton Fair. This major trade event saw participation from approximately 900 Egyptians in its physical venue, while an additional 2,200 joined digitally. Moreover, five exhibitors from Egypt took the opportunity to display their products at the fair's 133rd session in March.

Diving into history, Feng mentioned that a substantial number of Egyptians have resided in Guangdong and other parts of China for generations. Their longstanding trade interactions underscore their deep-rooted connections. Both Egypt and China are key partners in the Belt and Road Initiative, an ambitious project aiming to enhance worldwide trade and connectivity. Feng is of the belief that such trade engagements augment mutual understanding and fortify bonds between peoples. He further praised the instrumental role of the Suez Canal in the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing its criticality in bridging the two nations.

Describing Guangdong's economic landscape, Feng conveyed that the province stands as a colossal industrial powerhouse, not just in China but across the globe. Historically, it has been China's trade nucleus. Today, it boasts over 15 diversified industries and ranks as China's top trade epicenter, especially shining in areas like textiles, food, manufacturing, automobiles, and cutting-edge technology.
