A powerful explosion struck a hotel in the heart of the Afghan capital on Monday, leaving several casualties and causing significant damage. Among the injured are two Chinese nationals who are currently in critical condition, according to official reports.

The blast occurred in the Shahr-e-Naw district, a central commercial area known for its hotels and guest houses. Abdul Matin Qani, a spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Interior, confirmed the incident to the Khaama Press news agency, stating that the explosion targeted a specific hotel within the busy district.

Emergency Response and Casualties Preliminary reports indicate that at least one Afghan security officer was killed in the blast. The two injured Chinese citizens were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical staff described their injuries as life-threatening.

Security forces have cordoned off the area as emergency teams continue to work at the scene. While the motive and exact cause of the explosion remain under investigation, the incident has heightened security concerns in the capital, particularly regarding the safety of foreign nationals and commercial hubs.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. The Afghan Ministry of Interior has promised a full investigation, with more details expected as the situation develops.
