Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on all parties to accelerate the two-state solution and support the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.
The Chinese news agency (Xinhua) quoted Wang as saying, after chairing a high-level meeting held by the UN Security Council on “practicing multilateralism and reforming and improving global governance,” that “the conflict that broke out in Gaza is due to the delay in resolving the Palestinian issue.”
He explained that the Palestinian cause has always been at the heart of the Middle East issue, saying, "Until a two-state solution is achieved, all parties in the Middle East must overcome their differences and support the establishment of a Palestinian state."
