Chinese Defense Minister Colonel-General Li Shangfu left Russia on Wednesday, after participating in 11th Moscow Conference on International Security, heading to Belarus for a three-day official visit.
The Chinese minister is expected to visit a number of military facilities in the country, and also discuss pressing issues of bilateral military cooperation with the country's leaders and officials of the Ministry of Defense, according to Tass news agency.
In a statement, the Chinese Minister of Defense said that Beijing will continue to strengthen security cooperation mechanisms with its partners in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Belarus, which aspires to join the group.
Earlier, Belarus signed a memorandum of commitment with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, paving the way for its full membership.
