Han Ping, the economic and commercial advisor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, confirmed that the Chinese "Handa" Egypt Textile SAE has completed building production halls for its project in Belbeis, Sharqia Governorate ( some 90 km east of Cairo).
He added that the project will start production by February 2021.
Ping pointed out that the project's investment amounts to about $ US 20 million, and it hires 2000 workers in the first year.
Han Xin, president of the Chinese Handa Company for Ready-made Garments, had previously stated, on the sidelines of the signing of a long-term lease agreement with the Holding Company for Cotton and Weaving for Export in Egypt last November, that his company intends to pump investments worth $ 100 million into the Egyptian market, including $ 10 million at the first stage.
Handa has leased 34 thousand square meters from a factory closed years ago of the General Company for Jute Products (under liquidation) in Belbeis, for a period of 10 years; it will be used in the production of ready-made clothes for export which provides more than 5 thousand job opportunities.
