Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang stressed the depth of relations between his country and Egypt confirming that these relations reached the best level under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi whose efforts will contribute to the transition of Egypt to a prominent economic status.
“The relationship between the Egyptian and Chinese presidents push forward the artery of cooperation between the two countries, which made China the largest trade partner of Egypt; trade volume between them reached 700 billion dollars last year,” the Chinese Ambassador to Egypt said.
During his participation in the opening of the Department of Chinese Language at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the British University in Egypt, Liqiang congratulated the university administration and faculty members on their achievements and successes.
Liqiang pointed out that the British University planted a very important tree, to support bilateral relations between Cairo and Beijing through the opening of the Department of Chinese language.
On his part, British University President Professor Ahmed Hamad welcomed the Chinese Ambassador and his accompanying delegation.
“The British University decided to open the Department of Chinese Language to be a bridge for communication and to qualify cadres specialized in Chinese language science, since we believe that the economic future will be for China,” Professor Hamad said.
Hamad added: ”We have held several seminars through the research centers of the university to discuss the importance of the belt and road initiative, and ways to maximize the benefit of relations between Cairo and Beijing.”
Mahmoud Karem, advisor to the president of BUE for foreign affairs, stressed the depth of the political and strategic relations between the two countries, confirming the British University's keenness to push forward relations with China.
Professor Shadia Fahim Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the British university said: ”We promote and support scientific exchange and expertise through scientific trips.
On the other hand, Dr. Mohammed Shoman, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Mass Media at the British University, reviewed the scientific relations between Cairo and Beijing.
