Kiping Solar Technology, a leading Chinese manufacturer of solar glass panels, is preparing to launch a major industrial project in Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone), in a move that could significantly boost the country’s green energy manufacturing sector.
The announcement followed a high-level meeting held on the sidelines of the Egypt International Mining Forum between Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, and a delegation from Kiping Solar Technology. Discussions centered around the company’s plan to establish a solar glass production facility within the SCZone.
According to a statement released after the meeting, the Chinese company intends to capitalize on Egypt’s strategic location, abundant raw materials, and robust infrastructure to support green industrial projects.
“The government fully supports serious investments that promote technology transfer, maximize local content, and generate employment,” said Minister Badawi. “The mining sector is advancing toward increasing the added value of Egypt’s mineral resources through industrialization.”
The proposed project is expected to enhance local value chains, reduce dependence on imported components in Egypt’s renewable energy sector, and create hundreds of jobs.
Officials also discussed potential areas of cooperation between the company and the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority (EMRA), particularly in aligning the initiative with Egypt’s broader green energy and local industrialization strategies.
