China's BYD Gears Up for Massive Business Expansion in Egypt

China's leading vehicle manufacturer, BYD, has unveiled plans to amplify its presence in Egypt, contradicting recent speculations of its withdrawal from the market.

The auto giant, established in 1995, is renowned for its endeavors in electronics, automobiles, renewable energy, and rail transit. As part of its expansion strategy, BYD intends to commence car production in Egypt either later this year or early 2024, stated Yeung Jing, BYD's Marketing Manager for the Africa and Middle East regions.

In an effort to fortify its brand presence, BYD is slated to inaugurate three new showrooms, with a prominent location being the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

Reflecting on its dedication to environmental conservation, a senior company representative highlighted BYD's decisive move to halt the production of diesel cars in 2022. This strategic shift underscores the firm’s commitment to promoting eco-friendly alternatives, primarily electric vehicles and trains.

However, the company emphasizes that the export of electric cars to the Egyptian market will be contingent upon local demand.
