China has welcomed the reported agreement on a memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, expressing support for diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions and restoring stability in the Middle East.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing appreciates Pakistan's mediation efforts and hopes Washington and Tehran will sign the memorandum as scheduled. He urged all parties to pursue peace and resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiations.
Lin also emphasized the importance of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, saying its stability serves the interests of both regional countries and the international community. He noted that the memorandum reportedly includes provisions related to reopening the strategic waterway and expressed hope for the swift restoration of safe and unrestricted maritime traffic.
China reiterated its commitment to working with the international community to promote peace and security in the Middle East and Gulf region, while maintaining communication with relevant parties on regional developments.
Beijing also highlighted its longstanding support for diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts, reaffirming its commitment to dialogue, stability, and peaceful conflict resolution.
