The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Beijing supports granting Palestine full membership in the United Nations.

The Chinese News Agency (Xinhua) reported on Thursday that Mao Ning, spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated this in a daily press conference when she was asked about China’s position on Palestine’s membership in the United Nations.

It was reported that Palestine recently officially asked the Security Council to reconsider its request for full membership in the United Nations, which it submitted in 2011.

The Council met on April 8 and referred the request to the New Members Admissions Committee for discussion.

Mao said that the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the severe humanitarian crisis resulting from the conflict represent another reminder that the only way to end the vicious cycle of Palestinian-Israeli conflicts is to fully implement the two-state solution, establish an independent state for Palestine, and correct the historical injustice that the Palestinians have long suffered.
