China has expressed serious concern over reports that the United States has forcibly taken control of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
In remarks attributed to Chinese officials, Beijing said it is closely monitoring the situation and is deeply worried about the safety of the Venezuelan president and his spouse.
China called on the United States to ensure the immediate safety of Maduro and his wife, urging their prompt release. Beijing also stressed the importance of resolving the issue through dialogue rather than confrontation.
The Chinese side emphasized that disputes between states should be handled in accordance with international law and through peaceful means, warning that the use of force could further escalate tensions and undermine regional stability.
Washington has not yet issued an official response to the Chinese statements, and no independent confirmation of the incident has been made.
The situation comes amid ongoing strained relations between the United States and Venezuela, as well as heightened geopolitical tensions involving major global powers.
